Nike has shown a tendency for celebrating history, with its Black History Month Collections being one example, but they are not the only ones. Nike’s N7 Fund and the sneakers associated with it can be traced back to 2000 when Sam McCracken decided to help Native American tribes to develop and grow through the sale of Nike products. This is how the N7 Fund came to be, and promoting health and wellness within the Native American community is the focus of the program. Like every year, Nike will drop another N7 Collection that will reportedly include an Air Jordan 31 colorway.
The “N7” name of this fund/program comes from the Native American concept or principle of Seven generation sustainability. Coincidentally enough, it was seven years after 2007 that Nike kicked off its tradition of release N7 Collections. It was with Nike Air Native N7 that it all began in 2007, then the Air Huarache “N7” and Air Pegasus+ 26 “N7” had arrived in 2009, and the four different silhouettes were a part of the 2010 Collection. That is not to say that the collections have not included an Air Jordan model before, rather the Air Jordan 7 “N7” from 2015 was among the most noteworthy additions.
Instagram user @boyfanfootball is the one who posted the photo of the Air Jordan 31 pair that is featured here and this pair is reportedly the one that will be a part of the 2016 Nike N7 Collection. It makes sense considering that the Air Jordan 31 is Jordan Brand’s latest innovation. The Flyweave uppers of this N7 iteration appear to be relatively simple with a predominantly pure White base, while contrasting Black-, Navy-, Photo Blue- and Metallic Gold-colored detailing is visible throughout. Tonal Jordan Brand and Nike N7 logos can be spotted on the tongues. Reports about the Nike N7 Collection’s arrival suggest that this rendition will be among Fall 2016’s Jordan releases.
